EASIEST WAYS TO DEAL WITH NASAL CONGESTION IN BABIES
As a mother of three children aged six and under, I have had enough share of nights with my kids being fussy and uneasy due to nasal congestion. Since babies are obligatory nose breathers, they find it hard to breathe with a stuffy nose. Today, I’m sharing five of the easiest ways to deal with nasal congestion in babies.
If you have a baby or a toddler who is feeling very uncomfortable due to a stuffy nose then these easy tips are just for you. I hope you find them as helpful as I still do with my children.
GIVE A STEAM BATH
This is probably the simplest way. All you need to do is run a hot shower for a couple of minutes, enough to create some steam. Take your baby into the bathroom and sit in the steamy room for a few minutes. Alternatively, you can bathe your little one with lukewarm water.
RUN A COOL MIST HUMIDIFIER
When there is not enough humidifier in the air it gets harder for little children to breathe, Running a cool mist humidifier will make sure their enough moisture in the air. Whenever you operate any humidifier be sure to follow all the instructions closely.
Also, keep in mind that some humidifiers do not work with essential oils so cross-check with the manufacturer’s instruction manual.
POSITION YOUR BABY UPRIGHT
Positioning your baby in a way that the head is upright or slight raised than the rest of the body will help the mucus drain out of the nose. Whenever using a pillow with a tiny baby, anyway keep an eye. Never leave the baby unattended under any circumstances.
USE SALINE DROPS
The use of saline drops available over-the-counter like Nasivion that are specially formulated for babies is your best choice. Gently make your baby lay on his back, holding his head spray two to three drops on nasal spray in each nostril just before you feed the baby.
Always read the instructions given on the bottle very carefully and be
sure you follow it closely.
