If you follow me on Instagram you know that we had a very fun weekend family staycation at the W Hotel Doha. Ever since we left the hotel, I’ve been meaning to put down all the photos and document everything we did there, so you guys can read it all here at one place and also for our children to grow up and read it for themselves. If you’d like to know how we spent a weekend away from home at W Hotel Doha keeping read.
On Thursday afternoon, we were welcomed and greeted by the wonderful staff at the hotel with delicious Arabic sweets and dates and a lovely handwritten note which I almost forgot to notice.
Kids and sweets always go together, if that wasn’t a sweet gesture to start our staycation, then what was?
After checking in we spent some time checking out our rooms and the lovely view from the windows. Yes Baby Zayd got his own little bed but he slept in it 4-5 hours in the night before he crawled up into ours.
After we sat down for a while and called up our family back in India, we went downstairs straight to the hotel’s living room for our afternoon tea. It was a paint-your-own-treats kind of evening. Kids painted their own cakes and cookies. This sweet activity kept them busy for a good half an hour.
While kids were having fun, I tried my hand at it too. The whole concept of painting with edible paints and them making them disappear is actually pretty darn impressive. Haha!
That’s my artwork in the making. I don’t have a better picture of the final piece though. Also, did I tell you I gobbled it down in less than three minutes? Well, I did.
Husband and I enjoyed some time chatting away and sipping on our cuppas as kids made their treats disappear and finished their freshly squeezed fruit juices.
After our afternoon tea, we went back to our room and kids watched Arabic cartoons and stayed in bed for the rest of the evening.
That’s Zayd and his Abi enjoying the view from the window. I have to tell you that the view at night was breathtaking. I’d spend hours sitting by those giant windows and staring outside, which I did but may be for half an hour or so. Before Zayd woke up crying from sleep.
We dined at one of the best restaurants in Qatar, La Spiga by Papermoon. It offers the best Italian food in town. If you are in Qatar and love Italian, this is your place.
Kids ordered pizza, I got the most yummiest tomato soup and steak and husband ordered soap and shrimp. It was hands-down the best steak I have ever had in my life.
The next day we woke up and ordered breakfast in bed. Watching the early morning cityscape while enjoying the breakfast as a family was such a blissful experience. It was early hours of Friday morning and it felt as if the whole city was asleep.
The view I miss every day. When the city sleeps and the sun peacefully rises on a lazy weekend.
For breakfast we had toast, fruits, omelette, juice and enjoyed a warm cup of chai by the window.
That was my breakfast. I have sauteed mushrooms and omelette.
After breakfast, kids spend sometime in their room, colouring their morning away.
Some serious art in the making before Zayd scribbled on her drawing and there was a huge meltdown.
For lunch, we had a special brunch for kids with yummy food and play area.
One thing the made me relax and be at peace us the amazing staff at the kids’ brunch. We know kids were in safe hands.
While the kids enjoyed a few hours playing and having fun. Husband and I got to spend a few hours in peace enjoying our lunch at the Market.
This is what a part of our meal looked like. It was seafood kind of a day the Market. And unfortunately I don’t eat any seafood expect for fish that’s cooked by my mom (yes I’m old school that way).
So I enjoyed the appetizers, mocktails and delicious spread desserts.
Oh and also this watermelon and cheese salad was also yummy at the Market Brunch.
After the brunch, we went out to the wet deck for some pool time.
After having fun at the Wet deck, kids changed and we headed straight to the frozen yogurt station at Wetox Cafe. All of us picked our own yogurt bowls and went back to our room.
That night, we ordered dinner to be served in our room and it was so much fun. We ate, chatted, laughed and chatted some more before we put all the kids in the bath tub for a relaxing bath time because no staycation is complete without a calming bath in hotel tub.
The next morning after breakfast at the Market, we left the luxurious hotel to drive back home. If I could put the whole experience of staying at the W Hotel Doha in one word, I’d say extraordinary. Especially the way kid’s are treated by their staff, I was blown away.
Last but definitely not the least, I’d like to thank the sweet folks at W Hotel Doha for offering us such a pleasant experience and memories for a lifetime. Kids and I can’t wait to go back for another wonderful experience. Thank you!
