I’m so excited to be a part of this blog train. Today I want to do some real talk, spill some beans and talk about what my life pretty much looks like. This blog post is a compilation of my previous post here on my blog and my humor mom quotes from my Instagram profile (You should follow me there). That being said, all that is mentioned is true and totally ‘normal’ for me, now that I’m a mom. So here’s how motherhood has changed me 😀
Without any further delay let’s get started..
1. I always wake up with extra people in my bed. Yes always. Why? because everyone wants to sleep with mama, the oldest kid in the house included. ( Okay, let’s just pretend husband is not reading this) Haha.
2. Laundry was never so interesting, baby laundry is therapeutic. Before I became a mom laundry was the last thing I would want to do. Now, it’s my favorite pass time. I can literally sit in front of the washer and watch the clothes spin and spin for hours together (not that I have as much time, just saying). And did I tell you, that our laundry basket never gets empty to the bottom. It’s magic!
3. Chai is my fuel now. Every single day. I was never a chai or a coffee lover. After three kids, cups of chai served (self) at different intervals in a day is what keeps me sane. If things really go over the head, I serve myself a tall cup of cold coffee Starbucks style (but made at home by yours truly).
4. I don’t want to carry a diaper bag that looks like diaper bag. No not anymore. Yes that’s me. I have had my time with those old school diaper bags. Now with the number of kids more than the number of hands I have, I need a backpack that’s uber fancy and doesn’t look like a diaper bag at all. This mama vouches for her bagwati, Rhea by Michael Kors.
5. Wheels on the bus is my new anthem. I don’t know why but I’m addicted to the whole wheels on the bus thing. Now I can’t even recollect the lyrics of my once favourite Westlife’s “My love”. What? Did you say mombrains?
6. My evening snack is mostly leftover baby food or chocolates that I hid from my kids. Once upon a time, my evening snacks used to be some piping hot samosas and Hyderabadi osmania biscuits now it’s about the leftover cereal that I don’t want to throw away. I’m starting to like the Wheat and honey flavour per se.
7. I now have a super power to run into another room and sneeze because my kids have just fallen asleep. Gone on the days, I would make funny noises while sneezing to piss off my sister. Now a sneeze needs to ask for a written constent. Okay that’s too much. Do you also run into another room to sneeze freely? Reason, no one wants to awake up a baby especially if one gets up and everyone else in the house gets up.
8. Google to the rescue for all weird questions. I learnt that it’s totally normal for me to look up on Google for things like ‘Is green poop in babies normal’, ‘how often do babies spit-up’, ‘after how many months will I get my first period after delivery’ and so many more countless questions I have every single, including the weirdest ones like ‘is this a good idea or am I spoiling them’.
9. I no longer judge other parents for their parenting choices. Honestly I have too much to deal with in my life already. So why bother if someone is feeding their kids french fries? Just let them enjoy while I gobble mine down. So no more weird looks to parents of kids’ having a meltdown in the middle of supermarket over Oreo. Or to those who chose to homeschool their children. To each their own, I have learnt to overlook.
10. Lastly, I make a point that I never give out any parenting advice to anyone. Yes I absolutely refrain from giving ‘free’ advice to any parent regarding any parenting issues, unless asked for. There’s already so much of unnecessary suggestions and advice showered upon parents, both old and new. I would never want to add up to their trouble. Ever.
That’s all. I hope you enjoyed the post. How did motherhood change you? Tell me in the comments below. I’d love to hear your stories and lessons. 😀

Bang on! I just love the last point! So much of advice! All around! I remember with the first child .. It was all very very confusing! Especially in India .. If its a baby .. Every single onlooker has something to say! Its so frustrating .. But thankfully i always follow the baby! And hence peace 😉
Haajra Fareen says
That’s actually very true. Everyone has something to say about everything.
