Do you love shopping for others more than shopping for yourself?? But picking up gifts for others is not always as easy as it sounds, especially if the recipient is soon to be a mother. If you want to give something that’s unique yet practical instead of a mere fancy piece, then this post is just for you. Today I share with you a quick list of practical yet unique gifts for pregnant women. The gifts that every mother needs, but never asks for.
So go on and find out what they are.
Practical & Unique Gifts For Pregnant Women:
1. Diaper Bag:
A diaper bag that doesn’t look like a diaper bag. Yes, you read that right. No one wants to go out showing off those boring old-school diaper bags. So get something that’s functional yet chic for the mother to carry it around with pride.
You can also try unisex bag so that either of the parents can happily flaunt it. Alternatively you could get one bag to each parent, like a couple diaper bag, something in coordinating patterns. That way they can chose who carry which one and played around.
2. Grooming kit for the baby:
It’s fair to say that a grooming kit for a baby is as necessary as his diapers or clothes. Buy one huge good quality grooming kit for the baby and present it to the mother, trust me she is going to use it at least for the next 5 years old. And might think of you with each use. 🙂
3. Ear Thermometer:
Ear Thermometer can be a bit expensive if you are a budget but everyone need one, especially with babies. Even with older kids who refuse temperature checks with regular thermometer. An ear thermometer will make everything so much more easy and fun for both the parents and kids.
4. Boppy Pillow:
Breastfeeding in the initial months might see extremely daunting for a new mother. Want to make the whole experience slightly smoother for her?? Gift her a Brest Friend nursing pillow or a Boppy pillow that doubles up as a tummy time pillow for her growing child.
5. Teething Necklace:
No mother would want her baby chewing on her favourite t-shirt or ornament, why not replace it with something that’s extremely colourful yet safe for the baby? Think teething necklace. Get a good bunch them off of Aliexpress if you can wait for some time.
6. Baby Monitor:
A baby monitor will come in extremely handy if the baby is going to remain in a different room for a longer period of time. Not just that, they come with various interesting features like voice recorder, nighttime recording, zooming etc. The baby can peacefully sleep in her room, as the new mom and dad watch some Netflix, while having a firm eye on the baby.
7. Baby Carrier:
Until a couple years ago, there were no Indian brands who would make baby carriers to suit the needs of the Indian consumer. But have no fear, as of today there are 7-8 ‘made in India’ brands that offer a huge variety of ergonomic baby carriers.
For a mom-to-be I would hands-down suggest a soft ring sling or a woven wrap. She could wrap it around her growing belly until the baby inside is ready to pop.
8. Nursing Bra:
Nursing Bra(s), yes plural. Just be a generous person and gift her a bunch of nice and soft nursing bras in her size. Don’t shy away from asking her the right size, no one wants to wear uncomfortable lingerie postpartum.
9. Cloth Diapers:
Ask the mother-to-be if she’s keen on taking up cloth diapering, explain her the basics, share useful links with her and gift her 3-4 one size cloth diapers, one in each type.
That way she can try them all and then invest in whichever type appeals to her the most. And please, please don’t ever gift ‘sized’ diapers unless you are sure of the baby’s built.
10. Spa Voucher or Starbucks Gift Card:
Which mother would refuse a valuable gift voucher? Sorry I wouldn’t. And trust me they are the best bet when you don’t know what to buy.
Just don’t overthink. Give her an Amazon gift card or a Starbucks Gift card if she’s a coffee-lover. And if she’s not into coffee and shopping, gift her a luxury spa voucher so she can wind and relax and say a little prayer for you, for being such a kind soul.
I hope you found something you would want to gift to the mom-to-be. And of course, don’t forget to tell her how beautiful she already looks. 🙂
